Rand Paul on His Candidacy for the U.S. Senate

WICHITA, KS – When the Motorhome Diaries rolled through Nashville we had the opportunity to speak with Rand Paul before a campaign fundraiser. Rand is, of course, the the son of Ron Paul who we had the opportunity to interview during our visit to his Texas congressional district back in May. Along with Peter Schiff and Adam Kokesh, who we also had the chance to interview, Rand is one of a number of candidates that many minarchists in the freedom movement are excited about.

There is a much-publicized money bomb to support Rand Paul’s candidacy tomorrow, September 23rd. And while I’m certain that Rand is the most pro-liberty candidate in his race a review of his rhetoric on fiscal responsibility, support for military entanglements in Afghanistan and strong border security to protect us from folks Rand calls “illegal-immigrants” make him sound like he’s taken his stances from the Republican playbook. Voters in Kentucky are likely very different than those who keep electing Ron Paul in Texas and it looks like Rand is running to win. But make no mistake, Dr. Rand Paul is not Dr. Ron Paul.

We encourage you to decide for yourself who the best candidate is. Or even better, to shun electoral politics like your pals at Motorhome Diaries.
