Opening Day 2007

January 3 dawned bright and sunny for the 2007 opening of the New Hampshire Legislature. A lot of our old guard was on hand to assist in the presentation of the workings of the House. I was quite pleased to see several brand new people who showed a marked interest in learning the system.

The session in a lot of ways turned out to be not as expected. There was a mostly-ceremonial session on the floor that consisted of a lot of pomp, including the joint session of House and Senate, the opening of the session by the Governor and a very long prayer by the chaplain in which blessings were bestowed on everyone and everything pertaining to government.

THERE WERE NO BILLS! Therefore, there were no hearings. The best information we have is that proposed legislation, which means hearings, will begin somewhere in the third week of January, possibly the first week of February. This is not our usual start.

New Hampshire Liberty Alliance Releases Candidate Endorsements

The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance has released its list of endorsements for the 2006 general election.
For Incumbents, these are the folks who have earned an "A" or "B" grade, based on how they actually voted while in office; see the Report Card for details. For Challengers, these are the folks who scored 80% or above on an NHLA Candidate Questionnaire, and returned the Questionnaire by Oct 28.

Supporting any of these candidates is one of the most powerful, effective things you can do to help preserve Liberty.
Here are ways to help these pro-Freedom candidates.
