ANOTHER Feature Length Free State Project Documentary!
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Tue, 2008-05-20 13:20.This was just posted over on the FSP Forum:
Hello everyone,
My name is Christina Heller. As many of you may recall, last fall my partner Craig and I produced "rent FREE," the short documentary highlighting Alec Muller and his involvement with the FSP. It aired on Current TV and was also featured on the FSP website.

As you all know, the story of (and stories behind) this movement are both compelling and mostly ignored by the press. Based on these facts we have decided to produce a feature length documentary on the Free State Project.
The documentary will be filmed throughout this summer and fall, and edited through the winter with a completion date in the spring of 2009. It will run roughly 60-90 minutes, and be submitted to regional and national film festivals.
Libertarian Presidential Candidate Endorses the Free State Project!
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Sun, 2008-05-18 20:14.
Dr. Mary Ruwart is running for President on the Libertarian Party ticket. She's also my personal preference for the LP candidate. And, 25 minutes into her recent interview on Free Talk Live, she endorsed the Free State Project!
Go Mary!
FSP Movie! "A Candid World"
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Mon, 2008-05-12 16:52.Tom Caruso and Marc Femenella are independent filmmakers residing in New York City. They are working on a film about the Free State Project, titled A Candid World. There's plenty of video-friendly content to pick from: civil disobedience acts, like getting arrested for giving a manicure... pelting Federal buildings with snowballs... and HUNDREDS of libertarians and Ron Paul supporters massing in one place.
The movie's promotional trailer has now been released. Check it out!
"Dear Lord Vader..."
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Sat, 2008-05-03 18:17.New Hampshire magazine ran this fantastic (and only partially tongue-in-cheek) description of the exchange between New Hampshire's officials and the Feds on the subject of Real-ID.
LYNCH (Feb. 25, 2008): Dear Lord Vader. Why don’t you and your storm troopers pound sand? I told you, we preemptively voted to make it illegal for us to participate in the REAL ID program...
Thanks to Biker Bill for the pointer to this great article.

Submitted by Denis Goddard on Fri, 2008-04-25 02:49.Rob Barton is a Concord High student, and the driving power behind the scenes at Capitol Access. His collaborator Alex Hall and their fat free milk films crew just released their third superheroes-endorse-Ron Paul video.
Check it out :)

OC Register: CA Police State Project
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Fri, 2008-03-21 14:07.I just came across this wonderful gem of an article from the Orange County Register in California:
I'm not sure how the Free State Project is going in New Hampshire, but the Police State Project appears to be advancing rapidly here in California.
FSP President Co-Hosts Podcast with Michael Badnarik
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Thu, 2008-03-20 12:58.Michael Badnarik is an author, software engineer, and was the 2004 Libertarian Party candidate for US President. He hosts a show Lighting the Fires of Liberty on the We the People Radio Network.
On his show today, he interviewed Irena Goddard, President of the Free State Project (and my wife!)
Irena grew up in the formerly Communist country of Czechoslovakia. She and Michael discussed Czech present and past, her memories of living in a Communist state, and the parallels with the current situation in the USA.
FSP Member Profiled on Al Gore Network
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Tue, 2008-03-11 07:03.Morey Straus is a First1000 early-mover to New Hampshire. He is deeply, passionately libertarian.
Current TV is a company led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. He is definitely not libertarian. Current TV did a first-rate "voter profile" of Morey.
Of Primary States, Ron Paul Does Best in NH at 8%
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Tue, 2008-02-05 21:50.Some people complained about "Live Free or Die" in the state where Ron Paul got "only" 8% of the vote.
Now, after Super Tuesday, it appears he did better in New Hampshire than any other Primary state.
Ahem.
No other state with a Primary shows Ron Paul Paul over 7%
| State | % for Ron Paul |
|---|---|
| New Hampshire | 8% |
| New York (who thinks New York is a libertarian state?!) | 7% |
| Michigan & Tennessee | 6% |
The Real-ID "Rebellion" is Smaller than You Think
Submitted by Denis Goddard on Thu, 2008-01-24 10:40.It is frequently misreported that more than a dozen states have "rejected" Real-ID. I decided to research that a little bit. The Electronic Privacy Information Center has this handy list of links directly to the legislation in question. I read through each state's final bill. Guess what? Most of them have no legal weight, whatsoever.
Of the 17 States reportedly "rejecting" Real-ID, 11 of them have simply passed Resolutions. What's a Resolution? Simple: it's not a law. It's just a request. For example, let's take Nevada's resolution against Real-ID: "Nevada urges Congress to repeal the REAL ID Act"
The state of Nevada "urges" the US Congress to repeal Real-ID. That's a nice sentiment, but it's far from legally preventing the State Department of Motor Vehicles from complying with the mandate.
